Upcycle (Comm) Unity workshops at Jacob A .Riis Settlement House

The Blue Bus Project (TBBP) will bring Upcycle (Comm) Unity workshops, a series of 3 hands-on creative workshops, geared towards children of the Jacob A .Riis Settlement House at Queensbridge.

The workshop will focus on the 4R's of green, sustainable living: Reduce, Reuse, Refuse, Recycle. Participants will learn what it means to be environmentally responsible throughout this series of workshops and lectures. They will learn that there is more to recycling than just putting plastic and glass bottles in blue bins. Discussions will be on topics of climate change, negative impacts of litter and pollution, and the importance of recycling. They will learn what is meant by sustainability and eco-friendly practices while cultivating self-expression and creativity.

This project is made possible (in part) by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
