Back to School Play Street Festival
The Blue Bus Project took part of Save our Streets (S.O.S.) back to school play street festival in Crown heights, Brooklyn. This event supports S.O.S. mission to create safer, healthier communities by organizing a day filled with fun, helpful resources, child and family friendly activities, and caring staff and volunteers.
Save Our Streets (S.O.S.) is a community-based effort to end gun violence. The S.O.S. staff prevent gun violence from occurring by mediating conflicts that may end in gun violence and acting as peer counselors to the people who are at risk of perpetrating or being victimized by violence.
The S.O.S. teams work closely with neighborhood leaders and businesses to promote a visible and public message against gun violence, encouraging local voices to articulate that shooting is an unacceptable behavior.
