FIELD RECORDING WORKSHOP & SOUND BATH with Lavender Suarez
Sunday May 16, 2-6 PM

34th Ave Open Street in Jackson Heights between 93 and 94th streets

Would you like to learn how to create an archive of sounds that represent your neighborhood? By thoughtfully listening to the people and the ecosystem (natural and human-made) of our neighborhoods, as well as the culture at large, we can gain deep insights into our roles as members of our communities. Documenting sounds can give us a rich sense of learning, discovery, belonging, and purpose. Lavender Suarez will lead a media workshop featuring basic audio recording techniques (known as field recording) to assist you in becoming a sonic explorer in your neighborhood. The workshop will feature a meditative sound bath, and participants will help gather an archive of sounds, which will be accessible on the MoMI website.
